"" What we do:
The Global Teacher Project is a national initiative that works with initial teacher training providers. The project aim is to ensure that a global dimension (GD) is an aspect of student teachers preparation and development to becoming classroom practitioners. Partnerships and collaborations with organisations and agencies are also feature of project work, to develop policy and practice for a global dimension in initial teacher training.
"" At an operational level the project offers:

· HEI staff and trainee teachers training in global dimension concepts, knowledge and skills applicable to teacher training curriculum and programmes.

· Support, advice and training to teacher trainers in global dimension planning processes specific to the institution's needs or dissemination of planning frameworks based on models of practice developed by other higher education institutions.

· Links to resources, materials, events and organisations relevant to course and module development. A vehicle for such information can be found through the project’s website, newsletter and conferences.
"" At a strategic level the project aims to:
· Establish strategic and operational partnerships/collaborations to ensure the global dimension is an aspect of teacher training and school policy and practice.

Training programmes for university tutors, trainee teachers & mentor teachers based on:

· Conceptual frameworks and models of global dimension/education

· Subject and theme areas where concepts and models of global education can be incorporated into initial teacher training and school curriculum programmes

· Resources based on a global dimension or an aspect of it, eg Citizenship Education

· Concept and objective planning frameworks applicable to initial teacher training and school curriculum.

· Directory of organisations that can support or facilitate training in a global dimension.

· GTP website, newsletter and annual conference offering networking opportunities, global dimension resources, news of events, initiatives at teacher training and school level and links to other organisations.
