A global dimension

A global dimension enhances the curriculum and helps prepare young people for the challenges they will face personally, politically and socially".

This conference is for those who:

  • work in Initial Teacher Education and Training (ITET)
  • have responsibility for supporting trainee teachers in schools
  • seek to support teacher educators to deliver the global dimension and global citizenship in ITET

Conference aims

This is the third and final annual conference of the Global Teacher Project. It aims to
q provide inspirational models of good practice for bringing global perspectives into ITET.
q create sustainable networks between all those involved in promoting the global dimension in ITET (HEIs, NGOs, schools, policy makers).

Programme

The Conference programme will include keynote addresses on the challenges for ITET in a global community and on successful models of collaboration;workshops related to these two themes; a resource stall and display, and a cultural programme on the Friday evening.

The programme begins at 11am on Friday 6th May, and finishes at 3.30pm on Saturday 7th May 2005.

Venue

The conference will be held in London at the Methodist International Centre (MIC) Hotel and Conference Centre, 81-103 Euston Street, London NW1. This is a centrally located venue, just a few minutes walk from Euston Station, with disabled access, excellent accommodation and quality catering.

Global Teacher Project

This conference has been organised by the Global Teacher Project (GTP) of the World Studies Trust. The Project is a national initiative working with university tutors, their students, and mentors in schools to develop a global dimension in the curriculum.

Crêche

There are limited crêche spaces available. Cost is dependent upon age of children and whether they will be residential. Please contact us for more details. Provision can only be made for advance bookings.

Non-residential: £80
